Legal Evaluations For Misdemeanors & Nonviolent Felonies

Mental Health Evaluations for Legal Cases

We provide comprehensive evaluations for individuals facing misdemeanor or non-violent felony charges. These evaluations are appropriate for individuals involved in cases such as driving under the influence (DUI), operating while intoxicated (OWI), public intoxication, reckless driving, shoplifting, and other similar offenses. Our goal is to provide a thorough clinical assessment that may help the court better understand an individual’s mental health, behavioral patterns, and potential treatment needs.

Providing as much relevant documentation as possible helps us conduct a more thorough evaluation and allows us to make the most appropriate clinical recommendations. Please bring copies that we are able to keep for the evaluation.

Evaluations may be conducted by either a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW). In Michigan, the LMSW holds the full clinical license. If an evaluation is conducted by an LLMSW, the report will still be reviewed, approved, and signed by an LMSW before it is finalized and released.

NO!    This evaluation is not a forensic evaluation.

Forensic evaluations are typically more extensive and are usually conducted by a psychologist. They are often used by the court to determine matters such as a person’s competency to stand trial.

Our evaluations are designed to review your mental health history, physical health history, and the circumstances surrounding your charges.

The purpose of the evaluation is to provide objective clinical recommendations that may help guide the next steps in your case while also considering your overall wellbeing.

Payment for the evaluation is due at the time of scheduling. When you schedule your appointment, you will be asked to complete several intake forms online, including adding a credit card on file through our secure client portal.

Once your card is on file, you may submit payment through the portal for the amount listed. Full payment confirms and secures your evaluation appointment. If you do not pay the amount through the portal once the card is on file, we will run the amount within 24 hours.

This evaluation may be beneficial if you have not been court-ordered to complete one. However, we strongly recommend speaking with your attorney first to determine whether obtaining this evaluation would be in your best interest for your specific case.

No. This evaluation does not dismiss your case or guarantee that you will avoid jail time. The evaluation is an objective clinical report intended to assess your mental health and overall wellbeing and to provide professional recommendations for care or treatment.

While a judge may choose to consider these recommendations, the final decision always rests with the court and is not guaranteed.

No. Payment for the evaluation covers the time and professional services required to conduct the assessment, review records, and prepare the written report. Because these services are completed regardless of the court’s decision, the evaluation fee is non-refundable.
